🕹 Cheat Codes for Life
Being alive is hard enough, why make it harder? Here are the cheat codes for waking up and living like a legend in the real world:
Listen to this for the bottom line (13 minutes):
Level these up like your life depends on it, because it does
- Wisdom: Learn how the world actually works so you can avoid traps and overcome illusions. This includes learning what's healthy and what's harmful, and how to figure out if someone is leading you astray.
- Creativity: Find new paths forward in a changing world. Old ways may not be the best ways. Play, stay curious, take time to explore at little.
- Craftsmanship: Learn how to do things well, master your tools and build to last.
These are the virtues that empower you to make a difference, but they take time to build. The sooner you start the sooner you get there.
Meaning and satisfaction grow from these five choices
- Keep good promises, don’t make bad ones.
- Fix what you break, but don’t waste time on guilt or blame.
- Practice reciprocity. Return good deeds, clap back on bad ones. Don't hold grudges.
- Grow your virtues. (see above)
- Nurture your culture, because life is better when the people around you do better too.
These are duties, but doing them unlocks a lot of good things. The better you do at these the better life becomes.
There is only one moral rule: Sentience is sacred
- Respect sentient beings.
- Get consent, give consent, don’t exploit. Ever.
- Hurting others for fun and profit eventually breaks the game for everyone.
- Behavior is more important than the story backing it up. Watch out for manipulative sweet-talkers. General rule: the nicer the suit and the larger the microphone, the less you should trust them.
It seems simple, but people forget. This is the secret behind every successful moral system, and neglecting these things is the reason for (almost) every social collapse in history. The goal isn’t to win, it’s to keep playing as long as possible — together.
Why the punk aesthetic?
To remind you that it's okay to challenge bulls*t
- You have the right to ridicule the ridiculous.
- Mock pretension and absurdities, even your own.
- Stay humble and keep your mind flexible.
